Don't Be Alarmed
Devotional
When we turn on the news or scroll through social media, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the constant stream of conflicts, disasters, and troubling events. Our hearts can race with anxiety as we wonder if these are signs that the world is spinning out of control. Yet Jesus spoke directly to this very concern. He knew His followers would witness wars and hear rumors of wars throughout history. His response wasn't to dismiss these realities, but to give us a different perspective. The key isn't to ignore what's happening around us, but to remember that God remains sovereign over all circumstances. Wars have been a constant reality since Jesus walked the earth - we simply have better access to information about them now. When we feel that familiar knot of anxiety forming in our stomach over world events, we can choose to trust rather than panic. This doesn't mean we become indifferent to suffering, but rather that we anchor our peace in Christ's unchanging character rather than in changing circumstances.
Bible Verse
'And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.' - Matthew 24:6
