While Memorial Day honors the brave soldiers who died for our national freedom, Christians have reason to observe a spiritual memorial every day through Jesus Christ's ultimate sacrifice. He willingly left heaven's perfection and glory to enter our broken world, becoming fully human while remaining fully God. In His humanity, Jesus experienced our pain, suffering, rejection, and temptation, yet lived without sin.Jesus' earthly ministry demonstrated perfect service to God, culminating in His sacrificial death that paid for humanity's sins. His resurrection validated His claims and offers salvation to anyone who believes. When He ascended to heaven, Jesus resumed His glory while maintaining His human form, complete with the marks of His sacrifice. Now seated at God's right hand, He serves as our High Priest and Advocate, interceding on our behalf while preparing to return. This sacrifice—greater than any military hero's—provides freedom from sin's penalty, power, and eventually its presence. As believers, we should live with daily gratitude for this gift, maintaining the joy of salvation, and sharing this good news with urgency, knowing Jesus could return at any moment.
